This solution is aligned with feature 39 “Measurement of environmental parameters” of the Smart Tourism Destination Platform.

Due to the increase in the population in cities, environmental, light or acoustic pollution tends to increase. Consequently, monitoring these parameters is increasingly common in order assess the quality of life in cities.

Thanks to IoT technology, it is possible to diagnose and manage noise from human activity in cities. The information collected by the noise monitoring sensors is sent to a visualisation and control platform, where it is possible to analyse all the information and generate alerts or alarms. Risk situations due to accumulation of noise pollution are detected in real time and entities have the ability to devise improvement activities and policies to meet the needs of citizens.

The solution by Telefónica Tech is an independent, wireless sound sensor to measure noise levels in a city, whether resulting from nightlife or urban or motorway traffic.
